Swyn Support
Swyn is a quiet breathing companion for iPhone and Apple Watch. This page covers how it works, the questions that come up most often, and how to reach a person.
How Swyn works
Swyn follows your breath rather than setting the pace for you.
- Tap Breathe with Swyn to begin.
- Press and hold anywhere on the screen while you breathe in. Swyn expands for as long as you keep holding, so the in-breath lasts exactly as long as you want it to.
- Lift your finger when you are ready. Swyn holds a short, quiet pause, then carries the out-breath for you.
- Repeat as often as you like. Close the session whenever you want to stop.
There is nothing to count and no timer to beat.
On Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app runs on its own. Your iPhone does not need to be open, or nearby.
There are two ways to start a breath, and you can choose between them in the Watch app’s own Settings, under Control:
- Touch and hold — hold anywhere on the screen to breathe in, and lift when you are ready. Best with your eyes open.
- Turn your wrist — turn the screen down to breathe in, then back. Best with your eyes closed.
Settings
Open Settings from the button in the top corner of the main screen. You can adjust:
- Exhale length — how long the out-breath runs relative to your in-breath, from an even 1:1 through to a long, slow 1:3. The default is 1:2.
- Appearance — a day or a night surface.
- Breath haptics — the gentle taps that follow the breath.
- Breath countdown — whether the seconds remaining in the out-breath are shown.
- Session length.
Your choices are remembered between sessions.
Daily moments
Daily moments are three optional reminders — Start gently, Reset and Wind down — that you can place anywhere in your day. They are entirely optional and switched off until you turn one on.
They are scheduled as local notifications on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, and no schedule leaves your phone.
Not seeing your daily moments? iOS needs permission to show notifications. Open the Settings app, find Swyn in the list, tap Notifications, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. If you declined the permission when first asked, this is the only place it can be turned back on.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Swyn has no account, no sign-in and no password.
Does Swyn collect any data about me?
No. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing you do in Swyn is transmitted off your device. The full detail is in the privacy notice.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. Swyn works entirely offline.
Does the Apple Watch app need my iPhone?
No. It runs independently.
Does Swyn use Apple Health?
No. Swyn does not read from or write to HealthKit.
Is Swyn a medical app?
No. Swyn is made for general wellbeing. It is not medical advice, it does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a regulated medical device. If you have a health concern, please speak to a qualified professional.
If something is not working
- The breath ends as soon as I touch the screen. Swyn breathes in while your finger stays down. Keep holding for the whole in-breath, and lift only when you want the out-breath to begin.
- I cannot feel the haptics. Check that Breath haptics is on in Swyn’s Settings, and that system haptics are enabled in the Settings app under Sounds & Haptics.
- My settings were reset. This should not happen. Please write and tell us what you changed and when, and we will look into it.
